Privacy Policy

Effective date: 05/22/2026 · Last updated: 05/25/2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Riversnap ("riversnap," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit riversnap.com (the "Site") and join our waitlist. It also describes the rights and choices you have regarding your information.

riversnap is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Site or submit your information.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to people who visit the Site or join our waitlist, wherever you are located. The Site is a pre-launch page; its purpose is to let you express interest and receive updates about riversnap. We do not currently offer accounts, payments, or a logged-in product through this Site.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide to us. When you join the waitlist, you give us your email address. If you arrive through a referral link, we may also record a referral identifier associated with that link. If we ask optional questions (for example, about where you have an audience), any answer you choose to provide is also collected. You are not required to provide optional information, and you may join with your email alone.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers collect limited technical and usage information, such as your approximate location (derived from IP address and not stored in identifiable form), device and browser type, the pages you view, and the referring website. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that measure Site usage and performance in aggregate; this does not track you across other websites and does not build an advertising profile of you.

Information we do not collect. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, payment-card details, or government identifiers through this Site, and we do not collect information from sources other than you and the automatic methods described above.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • add you to our waitlist and send you a confirmation and updates about riversnap, including when and how you can claim a store at launch;
  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site, including measuring aggregate usage and performance and preventing spam, fraud, and abuse (for example, the form's bot-detection measures);
  • respond to your messages and requests; and
  • comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We will only use your information for the purposes described here or for compatible purposes we tell you about.

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:

  • Consent — to add you to the waitlist and send you waitlist and product updates. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 9), without affecting processing already carried out.
  • Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Site and to understand aggregate usage, balanced against your rights and interests.
  • Legal obligation — where we must process information to comply with applicable law.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers (processors). We use a small number of vendors that process information on our behalf and under contract, limited to providing their services to us: Vercel (website hosting and cookieless analytics), Neon (secure database storage of waitlist information), and Resend (delivery of our confirmation and update emails). These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of riversnap, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require any successor to honor this policy or notify you of material changes.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

The Site is designed to operate with minimal cookies and uses cookieless analytics, so we do not place advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any cookies we do use are strictly necessary to operate the Site. Because we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect; where you send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or "Do Not Track" signal, we treat it consistently with this practice.

7. How long we keep your information

We retain waitlist information until the earliest of: (a) you ask us to delete it; (b) you unsubscribe from our updates; or (c) it is no longer needed for the purposes described in this policy (for example, a reasonable period after launch). Aggregate, de-identified analytics may be retained longer because they no longer identify you. We may retain limited information where necessary to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

8. International data transfers

We are based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Where we transfer personal information from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), or our service providers' own approved transfer mechanisms, where required.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal information.
  • Portability — request a copy in a portable format (EEA/UK).
  • Restriction and objection — restrict or object to certain processing (EEA/UK).
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.
  • Opt out — opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or targeted advertising. We do not engage in these activities.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

How to exercise your rights. Email us at hello@riversnap.com. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message, which also serves as a request to stop sending updates. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You may also authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf.

Complaints. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first, so please consider contacting us before doing so.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including transport encryption (HTTPS), access controls, input validation, and bot-detection on our forms. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@riversnap.com and we will delete it.

12. Marketing communications

If you join the waitlist, you are opting in to receive a confirmation email and updates about riversnap. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We may still send you essential, non-promotional messages related to your request where permitted by law.

13. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites or social media profiles that we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing them with information.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate or required, notify you by email or through the Site. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
